ABOUT US

I have always been interested in fiber arts.  As a young girl I embroidered things for a hope chest.  My mother was a skilled seamstress and I learned dress making from her.  Later in life I became interested in needlepoint and finally quilting.  About 10 years ago I had to quit quilting due to problems with my hands and in looking for a new hobby turned to weaving.  I took a class at our local Community College and was thrilled.  However as a woodworker I didn’t like the simple pine loom I was given to use.  So I made my own out of unique hardwoods I had on hand.  Then I made a few shuttles and the rest is history!

    Joe Prunty  age 15

I have worked with my grandmother in her woodshop since I was a baby playing with wood, paint brush, and glass of water.  By the time I was four I was helping her build things.  Like my grandmother I started out making furniture.  When I was 6 I made a Childs Adirondack chair and entered it in the Los Angeles county fair taking Best of Show.  I have also made a cherry trophy case, childs rocking chair, and Craftsman table lamp.  Six years ago Granny gave me a Jet Midi lathe and this has turned out to be the love of my life.

Joe is an exciting young man to be around.   Most of the turned objects for sale on this web site are of his design.  Recently at a show he purchased a spinning wheel with his earnings and is learning to spin.  Previously he spun on a hand spindle

Rebecca like her brother has worked in the wood shop with her grandmother since she was a little girl.  At four years of age she started weaving and has made several projects. Recently she wove the Prunty family plaid to wear and she did a great job of a complicated pattern.   All in all she is a talented young lady.
